Short Term Car Insurance and Holidays

There are many reasons why you may not be able to go on the holiday of your choice. Money gets in the way all too frequently, along with the logistics of the arrangements. What we mean by this is when you choose a particular type of holiday which involves driving, only to discover that the car is not up to it.

It is too old, unreliable, too small, cannot take the luggage, trailer, caravan or the family. Up until now your choices were limited to hiring another vehicle or borrowing a car and mid-term adjusting your annual insurance policy to cover it, or changing your plans altogether as the cost of hire or the nightmare of insurance mid-term adjustments were too much to cope with.

Is there an alternative to this? We think we may have stumbled on one, a new insurance product for motorists on the internet. It is short term car insurance which you purchase by the day for up to a maximum of 28 days at a time.

There are several companies which offer this type of insurance for cars or vans. You can locate their websites by either their URL or typing in keywords such as short term car insurance, day insurance and temporary car insurance.

They all offer an internet based booking process and payment, with the option to view and print the short term insurance policy on your printer. All policies issued are registered with the MID.

The advantage of this type of insurance is that you can choose the short term period to insure a car/van and it is a separate insurance policy that does not impact on the vehicle owner's annual policy in the event of a claim.

You also get the benefit of an uninsured loss recovery policy, which is daily breakdown cover for the same period as the car insurance. That is particularly useful for holidays both in the UK and in the EEC.

If your plans require the use of another vehicle which you can borrow off friends or family, then you can insure the vehicle in it's own right and this includes extended European cover for those driving holidays to France and beyond in the EEC.

It is particularly useful if you need a more reliable car or more space than you have in your own family transport. You can even tow a trailer or caravan if that forms part of your holiday plans. The insurance is generally fully comprehensive, although you would need to shop around to get fully comprehensive for driving abroad.

The insurance offerings vary, from company to company, on their acceptance criteria and the vehicles they will insure, but generally 12 months holding a UK or EEC driving licence with no fault claims within 3 years and less than 6 penalty points endorsements will enable an on line application to be made for cover.

If your trip is scheduled to last longer than 28 days you can take a further period of cover consecutively, thus providing continuous cover beyond 28 days.

What we liked about the products were their flexibility and the speed of obtaining cover. They are more expensive than an annual policy, but a lot cheaper than hiring a car for your holidays.

All in all there is a place for short term car insurance in your holiday driving plans which will allow you to use someone else's car with the peace of mind knowing you have fully comprehensive cover, and that in the event of a claim it will not affect the annual insurance no claims discount.

The Requirements for A Used Car Donation

If you are considering donating a used car to a charity there are several things you need to know. Your donation benefits not only you but also recipient of your donation. Of course, who your recipient is and how they will use your used car varies from donation to donation. A foster home, for example, can use the car to drive the many children in its care from the center to various points. A public hospital can use the vehicle as one of their ambulances. A home for seniors or the elderly can use vehicles to transport their residents to doctor appointments.

The benefits to the donor specifically entail a tax deduction. The rules for this are as follows:

* If the charity recipient uses the vehicle for its own purposes, the donor can receive a tax deduction equivalent to the fair market value of the said vehicle.

* If the charity recipient opts to sell the vehicle, the donor can receive a tax deduction equal to the selling price of said vehicle, or $500, whichever amount is greater.

To make use of these tax benefits for used car donation, the donor must ensure that the following things taken into account:

* The recipient of a used vehicle donation must be a qualified charity as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Federal Tax Code. If you are not certain about this or you want to verify whether a charity who has held exempt status in the past is still currently acknowledged by the IRS as exempt, visit the web site of the Internal Revenue Service at www.irs.gov or call or visit your local IRS authority.

* You can only deduct a donation of a used vehicle if you itemize your tax deductions instead of taking the standard deduction. Itemization can be done by filling out Schedule A of your IRS Tax Form 1040.

* You have to accurately and with due diligence determine an initial fair market value for your vehicle. If your vehicle is worth an amount below $250, you only have to write down the specifics of the donation. If your used cars value is between $250 and $500, a written letter of acceptance of donation must be given by the recipient charity. If the vehicle value ranges from $500 to $5,000, you and the charity would have to fulfill all of the requirements above, as well as complete or have an IRS Tax Form 8283. Used vehicles with a value above $5,000 require more stringent requirements. In any event, a used car donation is great option to for a vehicle you no longer use and that could still fulfill some charitable purpose.

Starting Your Own Internet Business

Many people who have thought about starting their own internet business do not pursue it, this is due to the fact that many people believe that that the opportunity to open a successful internet business has already passed them by. When you first think of starting a home based internet business, you must do the research on the product or topic you would like to start with. Then immediately after would be the name of the new business you are about to launch. Starting a home based internet business involves basically the same strategies that come with starting any other business.

Domain is the name of your online business, and the very first thing you need to have when starting a home based internet business (and any other internet based business as a matter of fact). Looking at the above statistics and statements, you must have gathered a basic picture in your mind on how important SEO can be to your starting a home based internet business. Before starting an internet business, or if you haven't given your internet business the attention it deserves, you must have it in your mind right now that you need to treat your internet marketing business as seriously as your job or business.

One of the main tools for your websites promotion as well as marketing is SEO, when starting a home based internet business. This is a question which comes up many times when you are new to online functioning. When starting your business you will find it very useful to have sub- domains.

The second main method for creating your own business on the Internet is selling other peoples products/services and is more commonly known as Affiliate Marketing. There are two main ways to make money through the Internet, (1) you can create a website selling products/services that you stock and distribute or (2) selling other peoples products/services via a referral that you will then receive a commission for sales and subscriptions. The number of products available for one to sell is almost limitless you don't even need your own products you can make a great living just collecting commission for selling someone else's products.

Online Store- Like an eBay business, running an online store can be difficult if you have to ship products to other countries. Although eBay is located in many countries, it might be a difficult business to run. If you have finally decided to start your Internet home based business and have done all your home work.

Start a business that you enjoy, you have to be motivated to wake up in the morning ready to start the day with your home based business, you are your own boss. Now that you are in the early planning stages of your new business, you will need to find out what, if any, licenses your new business will require. Starting a home based internet business will be easy for you.

Bringing your business ideas to the Internet can be a fruitful and inspiring process. Always remember it is a business and you are not going to get rich overnight. You must keep working at it, all the hard work you put in will reward you on a huge scale.

Does Obesity Require a Physical or Mental Solution?

Unhealthy Food Advertising

The fact that the US is currently suffering from an obesity epidemic is not just a random occurrence. How many dump trucks could be loaded with 100-dollar bills from money poured into unhealthy food advertisements? I would imagine quit a lot. There are several commercials advertising healthy food and fitness equipment, but by comparison they are almost negligible.

How Does Advertising Effect The Average Obese American?

I believe advertising has a huge effect on when we eat, why we eat, and what we eat. When I was obese, I made a startling discovery. Believe it or not, I ate even when I was not actually hungry. My body wasnt giving me signs such as my stomach growling, but my mind told me umm that would taste good! . When did my mind tell me that? Right after I saw an advertisement. So I ate when food was available or when I got a craving from an advertisement, not when I was actually hungry. This created a large problem. The number of calories I was eating was far greater than the amount that could be burned from a reasonable amount of exercise.

What Can I Do About it?

Television has become a large part of American culture and fast food advertisements are not going anywhere. We have to learn ways to deal with these advertisements. Below I have listed a few ways.

1. While watching your favorite shows, turn the channel when a commercial comes on (something were good at anyway).

2. Do a 5 minute exercise routine during commercial breaks.

3. Have a scale in your living room. When a commercial comes on, stand on it.

4. Watch TV with people who want you to loss weight.

5. Be creative! You can think of a lot more ways to preoccupy yourself during commercials.

Conclusion

You must have a physical and mental solution to attack obesity. A physical solution would be a way to burn more calories than you eat every day. Your mental solution would be how you will resist eating when youre not actually hungry.

How to Deal With The 'Bad' Stuff

Urrrggghhhh, doesn't it suck when you get in those situations where something or somebody really gets to you. Maybe it's an unpleasant work situation with an employer, client or colleague, or a personal one with a friend or family member. Or some sort of agency, organization or outfit you have to deal with that isn't going well. Whatever the players, the energy is still the same: it feels like something is being done onto you and you've lost your sense of personal power and control. And, ultimately, you want to get it back and feel good again.

Feel Your Feelings: The first thing to regain your sense of power is to just feel your immediate feelings. Perhaps you feel sad and victimized - good, go ahead and get the relief of a good cry and lament the injustice of it all. Or, maybe you aren't one for turning feelings on yourself, but instead, like to project it onto the others. So, feel angry and blaming if that is your immediate reaction. Get pissed, beat a few pillows, take it out on some poor tennis or golf ball. Cathartic stuff can be a good first step (as long as it is done responsibly and not directly expressed on others).

Obviously some situations might warrant additional kinds of support beyond what is mentioned above. For larger events, or events where you can't seem to reach emotional stability on your own - seek out good, skilled counselling support to aid you. There is no shame or weakness in getting good support when you need it - it's actually a sign of strength in my books.

Find & Express Your Boundaries: Once you've gotten some relief by feeling your immediate feelings, turn next to finding and expressing your boundaries. In 'Law of Attraction speak' we call this 'focusing on what you do want as opposed to what you don't'.

"As you begin to state what you do want, rather than clamouring about what you don't want, you come into your own power". Abraham-Hicks

Oftentimes our tendency is to continue to focus on what isn't working and what doesn't feel good getting stuck in a negative loop. We lament the boss or client from hell. Continue to pick apart the personal partner. Rant against the IRS, the successful business competitor, the disliked neighbor, etc. As we focus on what isn't working, we feel bad, and we communicate from this negative energetic place. What you want instead is to figure out what you truly do want and like and to speak from that energetic. A subtle but PROFOUND difference.

If there is a lot of anger and rivalry going on: then what you really might want is collegiality and calm. If the house looks like a tornado hit it, what you really might want is order and cleanliness. If stealing or bad business practices are going on, what you really might want is high ethics and responsibility. Figure out what it is you really want. Notice how much nicer and softer (less harsh) that other side of it feels. You feel better just by turning your focus there. You have reached for and gotten some relief. If you can communicate with the other party, speak about what you want. Often this softer energy of moving off of the problem onto the solution is all you need to shift the dynamic.

Re-framing 'Bad Stuff': Not all 'bad' stuff that occurs is really bad, at least in the bigger picture. In the situations outlined above, there might be some bite for a bit - however in the larger evolutionary context it could be 'good'. The messy house and the fight about it gets you to hiring a regular housecleaner. Or, the unethical colleague brings an inquiry down on themselves and in the process the environment gets cleaned up to your liking. Or, the events with the spouse come to a head and intervention is finally sought - leading to the breakthrough that gets you to resolution.

Oftentimes we need this 'contrast' to move us on in our lives. To build up the energy enough to move us off of our comfy or known perch into something better. Change can be intimidating, so a lot of us wait around and procrastinate on making changes until we really have to. Contrast moves us off our butts into better things.

Too Built Up to SHIFT: Sometimes we attract situations that are just too built up to shift. There is a lot of negative momentum behind the situation and it's a steamroller against the tiny amount of positive energy we can muster in the now. The problems in the relationship are just too chronic, the bankruptcy cannot be avoided, the business cannot be turned around, etc. My Law of Attraction teachers, Jerry and Esther Hicks, have a cute but poignant analogy for this: 'if you are 10,000 feet up plummeting towards the earth with no parachute - no worries, it'll be over quick'. Yikes, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and suffer the effects of your cumulative thoughts and actions - brace yourself for the crash. You can't shift it in the now cause it's just too little, too late. But you can learn from the experience and 'get your ducks in a row' for life afterwards.

Develop the Habit of Pre-paving: Been through one too many crashes? Ready to do things differently? One of THE most effective ways to get out of bad situations is to not create them in the first place! To recover from a big negative event you really need get out ahead of it - find the better feeling place and focus on it consistently. Shake off where you have been and the results you might be currently still feeling and springboard yourself out into your desired future. You need to get into the regular habit of laying down intentions and desires for your future - 'pre-paving' your path, if you will.

Use Visioning Technology: How do you pre- pave your desired future? By using anything that will help you focus on a positive feeling future: vision boards, vision and mission statements, graphic coaching templates, guided imagery, meditations, intention work and such to get your focus out beyond your current yuck.

Imagine your world, as you would like it to be. Discover what it looks like, smells like, tastes like, and most importantly - what it FEELS like. This visioning work is SO much more than imaginary or wishful thinking - it's revolutionary in the way that it changes what you are attracting and creating.

Personal Strategic Planning: Dealing with a bad event isn't all about feelings and visioning. At some point you will also have to deal with the action side of things and with your beliefs, attitudes and mindset. However, that all falls into place when you have a Personal Vision that feels really good to you.

Doing visioning and personal strategic planning work gets you back into your own power - back into flowing your energy properly and constructively. As you get disciplined on focusing on what you truly do want, the outside of your life begins to change to match it. The bad stuff begins to lessen and shift as a life more suited to you and your true desires is created by you. And boy, does it feel better on the other side!

Weight Loss Motivation - The 7 Problems That Can Destroy Your Weight Loss Efforts! Part 2

Weight loss motivation is a BIG problem especially if you have a lot of weight to lose.

The problem can just seem IMPOSSIBLE!

How do you get the motivation to start your weight loss plan and more importantly to stick to it? This 7 part series will help you to overcome the 7 most crippling problems faced by people trying to stick to a weight loss plan and offer the solutions that allowed me to break free of the weight loss plateau.

This brings us to the first problem that can destroy your weight loss efforts:

Problem 1: I don't have time to exercise

Finding the weight loss motivation you need is hard but it is so much easier to make excuses.

Classic weight loss motivation excuses:

  • I work several jobs and don't have time
  • I have kids and they take up all my time
  • Between kids, my job, housework and hubby I couldn't possibly fit it in
  • The problem is just too big. I can't do it.
  • I can't manage to exercise for very long at all. What I can do is insignificant. It's hopeless.
  • The exercise and hunger is too painful
  • I am not getting results. Shouldn't I see some change within a few weeks?

Weight loss solution No.1 - You don't need to exercise for very long to make a difference.

When you start just do 20 minutes per day. Do it in front of the tv or whilst listening to the radio. Do it with a friend. Park an extra block away form work giving you a short walk each day. Don't use the tv remote. Walk to the tv each time you want to change the channel.

Brainstorm 10 creative ways that you can incorporate exercise into your existing daily routine. You will be surprised! Short bursts of regular exercise are actually better for you than a long session that never happens.

As I am a trained maths teacher, allow me to give you a little maths lesson.

If you commit to just 20 minutes a day for 4 days a week and deduct 8 hours per day for sleeping then you are committing to only 1.1% of your time in a week!

Only do as much exercise as your body can handle. You body is smarter than any weight loss expert and if you listen to it you can feel how much you can safely handle and stick to on a daily basis.

Weight loss solution No.2 - EASE THE PAIN!

When you first commit to a change of lifestyle there is an inevitable adjustment period. You must adjust to regular exercise, smaller meals and hunger for starters.

Make your exercise fun with a few warm up exercises that you enjoy. Break it down into steps and goals. Your first goal may simply be to get your body moving. Do 5-10 minutes of your favourite exercise, 5-10 minutes of an aerobic activity, 5minutes of resistance training then a short warm down. Exercise doesn't have to be pain and work. It can be as fun as you can make it!

EASE THE HUNGER

There is a way to actually control your appetite without hunger pains.

CBS and ABC news ran an article about a cactus like plant called Hoodia that grows in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The native Bushmen of the area have been using the cactus to suppress hunger and thirst on their hunting trips through the desert for hundreds of years.

This cactus is now available in a supplement form that allows people from all over the world to take advantage of the Hoodia cactus.

The appetite suppressant effects have allowed thousands of Americans to finally get their appetite and cravings between meals under control where other products have failed in the past.

WERE YOU SCAMMED?!

It can take several painful experiences to finally purchase a hoodia product that is not a fake or full of useless additives. There is nothing more disheartening than purchasing a product and finding it does nothing and you are back to square one with no weight loss solution in sight.

Hoodia is a very rare product and the huge demand for this product often outweighs its supply. The South African Government has placed limits on the amount of Hoodia that can be exported to avoid the cactus being over-harvested. This has resulted in many companies offering fake Hoodia supplements or supplements with so little authentic Hoodia in them that they are a waste of your time and money.

An authentic hoodia cactus extract is a popular form of appetite suppression that has worked for thousands of people. But unless you plan on losing your money rather than your pounds there are the 3 things you absolutely must AVOID! These clues on a manufacturers website will help you to identify the scammers and which products to stay away from.

Identity Theft: Don't Be A Victim!

Moments after stepping out of the taxi, Rachel plunged through the entranceway of the hotel lobby eager to put behind what had been a terribly exhausting day. Flight delays due to weather had caused her LAX-MDW-BWI trip to take nearly eleven hours to complete. All she could think of was taking off her shoes to relieve her aching feet and dipping them into soothing, warm bath water.

The line at the front desk was mercifully short. One clerk caught Rachel's attention and signaled her forward she gave him her reservation information and then dug out her American Express card for payment. As he stepped away to verify its authenticity Rachel's eyes surveyed the lobby. "They've updated everything since I was last here", she thought. Her concentration, clouded by fatigue, was now on the mission style tables, chairs, and light fixtures, which had replaced the heavy, wooden furniture previously occupying the lobby. "Here is your card and room key, ma'am," the clerk interrupted minutes later. Quickly, Rachel stuffed her card back into her wallet, gathered her bags and whisked away to her room.

Rachel was a victim of identity theft that night, but did not know it at the time. Had she kept a watchful eye on what her clerk was doing instead of studying the lobby, she might have noticed him switching cards on her. At the very least, she would have seen that the card handed to her beneath her room key was not her own.

Identity theft is an exploding problem that has increased exponentially in this technological age. Particularly since the early 1990s thieves have been taking advantage of what we would consider every day transactions: writing a check at the grocery store, ordering merchandise via the internet, applying for a credit card, using your cell phone, and more. Each transaction requires you to share personal information: your bank and credit card account numbers; your income, your Social Security Number (SSN); and your name, address, and phone numbers.

An identity thief will lift some piece of your personal information and appropriate it without your knowledge to commit fraud or theft. One of the most common methods is when the identity thief uses your personal information to open a credit card account in your name.

The Federal Trade Commission is the arm of the federal government tasked with overseeing the problem of identity theft. A special hotline number (1-877-IDTHEFT) was created for consumers to call to place your information in a database which is accessible with other law enforcement agencies and private entities, including any companies about which you may complain. Additionally, an ID Theft Affidavit a form you can use to alert companies where a new account was opened in your name can be filled out and given to the company. This affidavit is available online to consumers.

Identity thieves can get your personal information in a number of ways:

* They steal wallets and purse containing your i.d. and credit and bank cards.

* They steal your mail, including your bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, telephone calling cards and tax information.

* They complete a "change of address form" to divert your mail to another location.

* They rummage through your trash, or the trash of businesses, for personal data in a practice known as "dumpster diving."

* They fraudulently obtain your credit report by posing as a landlord, employer or someone else who may have a legitimate need for and a legal right to the information.

* They get your business or personnel records at work.

* They find personal information in your home.

* They use personal information you share on the internet.

* They buy your personal information from "inside" sources. For example, an identity thief may pay a store employee for information about you that appears on an application for goods, services or credit.

Identity thieves will then take the personal information they have obtained about you and use it in a number of different ways:

* They will call your credit card issuer and, pretending to be you, ask to change the mailing address on your credit card account. The imposter then runs up charges on your account. Because your bills are being sent to the new address, it may take some time before you realize that there is a problem.

* They open a new credit card account, using your name, date of birth and SSN. When they sue the credit card and don't pay the bills, the delinquent account is reported on your credit report.

* They establish phone or wireless service in your name.

* They open a bank account in your name and write bad checks on that account.

* They file for bankruptcy under your name to avoid paying debts they have incurred under your name, or to avoid eviction.

* They counterfeit checks or debits cards, and drain your bank account.

* They buy cars by taking out auto loans in your name.

Fortunately for Rachel, American Express covered her losses. Although she didn't find out about the theft until she reached her home in California, American Express suspended her account when a number of suspicious charges appeared and she couldnt be reached by them to verify the charges. Their fraud department left a message on her phone answering machine instructing her to call them and, when she did, Rachel was notified that someone else was using her card. When she explained that she had the card in her possession, she checked her purse and found a card for someone else instead.

Visa, MasterCard and American Express absorb the cost of fraud as long as they are notified by the consumer [certain restrictions may apply check with your card issuer for specific details]. Had Rachel used a debit card, the story might have been much different. Unlike a credit card, the debit card takes a direct hit on your bank account, meaning that you will have to absorb the loss.

So, all is well with Rachel, right? Sure, American Express overnighted a new card with a new account number for Rachel to use on her next trip, but the problem could very well have continued and deepened had she not taken three more steps recommended by the Federal Trade Commission:

First, contact the fraud departments of each of the three major credit bureaus. Tell them that you are a victim of identity theft. Request that a "fraud alert" be placed in your file, as well as a victim's statement asking that creditors call you before opening any new accounts or changing your existing accounts. This can help prevent an identity thief from opening additional accounts in your name.

At the same time, order copies of your credit reports from the credit bureaus. Credit bureaus must give you a free copy of your report if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, and you make that request in writing. Review your reports carefully to make sure no additional fraudulent accounts have been opened in your name or unauthorized changes made to your existing accounts.

Second, contact the creditors for any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently. Creditors can include credit card companies, phone companies and other utilities, and banks and other lenders.

Third, if possible, file a report with your local police or the police in the community where the identity theft took place. Get a copy of the police report in case the bank, credit card company or others need proof of the crime. Even if the police are unable to catch the thief, the report can be helpful when dealing with creditors.

In summation, identity theft is a problem that is causing businesses and consumers billions of dollars per year. As a result, higher interest rates and an increase in the cost of goods and services is passed on to consumers. So, do not be a victim protect yourself from identity theft by remaining alert especially when a third party is handling your personal information.

Start a Soy Candle Business for Fun & Profit

If you love candles, and spend money on them constantly, maybe you should consider getting a soy candle business of your own. These candles tend to sell themselves. More than 80% of homes in the United States burn candles on a regular basis, and you probably know people who fit this category. This is a lucrative business that is easy to start.

Most of the soy candle business opportunity companies are Multi Level Marketing companies. This means that not only do you make money selling soy candles, but you also make money helping others learn to sell candles. This is truly a win-win situation for all involved. You can work this business as little or as much as you want.

The first thing you want to do is research some of the companies that offer independent ownership within their company. A soy candle business opportunity can cost as little as $40 and can go well over $500, depending on the company your decide to go with, and on the packages they offer to start your business.

Many of these companies offer up to 50% commission on each sale. However, some require you to purchase a minimum amount each month, while others let your order when you need them and have no buying requirements. Find the companies you are comfortable with and then look at other things in the company.

You will probably want to work with a company that will help your soy candle business grow with residual income as well. If you think that you cant talk someone into becoming a distributor, you will be surprised how often people will come to you and ask about how to get into the business. This will come to you easily, and will create an income that is handed to you just by helping the other person build a successful soy candle business.

You will also want to consider whether you want to hold inventory or order as needed. Seek out soy candle business opportunity companies that offer the option you are comfortable with. If you have lots of space, you may consider having inventory on hand, but if you life in a studio apartment that may not be an option.

Once you have decided on a company and found a sponsor, this person should help you get comfortable with the products and guide you through the first several sales of your candle business. Their helping you will benefit them as will your success. Therefore, it is best to find a sponsor that is close to your location.

Now you need to think of ways to sell your soy candles. Get a few extra for the purpose of showing people the variety of products you sell at home parties. This will help you sell your candles and any other products you may sell.

You may want to purchase a party game book, like the ones for baby showers. This will give you ways to show your soy candle products and make it fun for the attendees at the same time. Purchase a few extra candles, such as the scent of the month or special of the month and give these as prizes. This will excite your customers and produce sales.

You can also use the candles as fund-raisers. Knowing that so many people purchase candles for themselves and for gifts, this will ensure sales. If it is also for a good cause, your soy candle business builds credibility within your community.

The hardest part of this job is getting started. Ask family and friends to help you by having home parties. Many will help you to succeed if they know you are really serious about making this business opportunity work. They will be your first line of advertising.

Subscribe to newsletters and periodicals in the industry. Participate in seminars, conventions, conference calls and any other type of training and updates the parent company offers. This will keep you abreast of new products and new trends in the soy candle industry.

It is also important to remember to have fun. As long as you are having fun, your sales will soar, and you and your family will reap the rewards of your successful soy candle business.
